Lakota West Theatre is thrilled to offer a performing arts scholarship in memory of Nancy Goodwin, the founding choreographer of Lakota West Theatre. Last spring, Nancy lost a battle with breast cancer, and while she is no longer with us in body, her gentle and effervescent spirit lives on in our theatre.
Nancy served as choreographer for Hello, Dolly! and Sweet Charity along with Musical Theatre Revue class for two years. Those founding years of West Theatre were challenging to say the least. Building a theatre program from the ground up required an energetic and talented theatre staff and Nancy was a vital part of the team. Amid the stress, nothing could sooth unsettled nerves better than Nancy's infectious laugh. We are privileged to have worked with her and to call her a friend.
Funding for the Scholarship
The scholarship will be funded predominantly through funds raised from Broadway Bound, our dessert cabaret, on May 10. Since we are unsure how much money this event will raise, we are not ready to announce the amount of the scholarship.
